Losing streak hits three
BantamweightUFC
February 1, 2025
Bueno Silva lost to Jasmine Jasudavicius via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
ANALYSIS
It's all fallen apart on Bueno Silva in the span of a year. Last January, she dropped a unanimous decision to Raquel Pennington in a title fight. She then was knocked out by Macy Chiasson in June before getting swept on the scorecards by Jasudavicius here. Bueno Silva was somewhat competitive on the feet before being totally overwhelmed by the grappling game of the Canadian. There's no easy fix here. Bueno Silva clearly isn't on the same level as the top women in the division. Her future is firmly up in the air.
Next opponent booked
BantamweightUFC
November 18, 2024
Bueno Silva will take on Jasmine Jasudavicius in a flyweight bout at UFC Saudi Arabia on Feb. 1, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Bueno Silva is in desperate need of a win. She's flirting with a three-bout losing streak that would drop her UFC record to a perilous 5-5-1-1, and most recently lost to Macy Chiasson back in June in the second round. While her opponent Jasudavicius has won three straight and is looking to stack momentum, this is a massively important fight for Bueno Silva in the promotion's eyes.
Cut leads to second straight loss
BantamweightUFC
June 29, 2024
Bueno Silva lost to Macy Chiasson via TKO (doctor's stoppage) at 1:58 of Round 2 at UFC 303 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
That's a tough break for Bueno Silva. Looking to get back in the win column following her poor performance against Raquel Pennington in a title fight in January, Mayra dominated nearly the entirety of Round 1. Yet, she found herself on her back early in Round 2 before getting sliced opened by a brutal elbow from Chiasson from top position. Referee Chris Tognoni eventually called the doctor in, he took a look at the cut above Bueno Silva's right eye, and that was all she wrote. The Brazilian challenged for a world title recently, but set to turn 33 years of age in late August and with zero history of defeating quality opposition, Bueno Silva's future isn't particularly bright.
Chiasson up next
BantamweightUFC
April 23, 2024
Bueno Silva is scheduled to compete against Macy Chiasson in a bantamweight fight at UFC 303 in Paradise on June 29, per the UFC's announcement Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Bueno Silva will look to build up a case for another title shot by defeating Chiasson, who recently submitted Pannie Kianzad. Bueno Silva lost a championship fight to current bantamweight champion Raquel Pennington, and another defeat likely sends the Brazilian out of the division's top five.
Struggles in title fight
BantamweightUFC
January 20, 2024
Bueno Silva came up short in her quest for the vacant UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship on Saturday, falling to Raquel Pennington via unanimous decision (46-49, 46-49, 45-49) at UFC 297 in Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Neither woman really distinguished themselves in what was one of the weakest title fights in recent memory, but Bueno Silva was particularly underwhelming. Her very few strong moments came early on. It appeared as if Bueno Silva was largely overwhelmed by the moment. She didn't manage her energy well and was rendered completely ineffective the final few rounds. It shouldn't be all that surprising. Despite entering as a -165 favorite, Bueno Silva has never shown much in her UFC run other than a handful of out-of-nowhere submissions. The Brazilian will be 33 years of age in late-August, and it's overwhelmingly likely this will this will end up being her only shot at UFC gold.
